Off to Santiago

We rather wobbled into our a BA Dreamliner on Halloween for our 14 hour flight to Santiago, courtesy of a few drinks as Robert and Liz's guests in the Business Class lounge. Good legroom, dinner and sleeping at more or less the same bedtime as usual and a painless transfer into Santiago saw us fit for our "free" walking tour, almost four hours worth of the sights and context, especially Chile's recent difficult political history.

Next day saw us walking the two city hills, Cerro Santa Lucia and Cerro San Cristobal, now both parks, with good views over the capital. The weather was definitely on the cool side. Good evening meals in the "Lastarria Barrio” area  and strolling around its bohemian streets kept the chill away. Loads of street art, performers, a procession and "cafes with legs", politically incorrect cafes with young ladies in very short skirts making great coffee, kept us entertained. We also visited La Chascona, one of the poet Pablo Naruda’s houses. His eclectic collections and the imaginative architecture made for a fun hour.
